The Story
On the morning of 9/11 the students of P.S.234 lives were forever changed. Their school was located near the base of the Twin Towers. Some of them lost their homes. Some of them lost loved ones. Their school was rendered unihabitable.
During the crisis, the people of the neighborhood came to their rescue providing protection and comfort. During the renovation children from all over the world sent them gifts and provided needed school supplies.
After many months, the children returned reuniting with old friends and teachers. They were truly grateful.
Under the gentle guidance of the producers of Reading Rainbow they wrote this song with Steve H and produced this music video to thank the world for the generous outporing of kindness and support! It's pretty sweet. Check it out........
Message from Steve H ... ten years later:
As a firefighter in a town 20 miles north of theTwin Towers I volunteered to work that fateful day. As all of NYC's firefighters rushed to the "scene", those of us to the north moved southward to fill the vacuum. So I, along with hundreds of other suburban firefighters, advanced into positions in the city to help protect the communities who's bravest were busy at ground zero. Regrettably, the company where I was assigned lost several guys that day.
So many families were forever tranformed by 9/11. Writing this song with the kids of P.S. 234 was a great honor for me which I'll will remember my whole life.
